By the grace of Allah I define myself thus: I am a mother of two beautiful boys masha’allah. A Muslim. A wife. A daughter and a sister. I am educated to post grad level. I have attended the University of Leeds and the University of Cambridge. I majored in Philosophy and Sociology, therafter Education. I used to be a teacher in secondary school. I have qualifications in counselling. I am an author. I homeschool my children. I converted to Islam when I was 22 and I live in England.

Currently I have discovered the love of crafting. For so many years the Protestant Work Ethic in me meant that unless something could earn money or fulfill a task anything artistic was dismissed as a waste of time. I did not understand people who could enjoy sewing and knitting and crafting. In a blur of inspiration I dug out my thrifted sewing machine and endeavoured to make something. And I fell in love. Truly. Now I ‘get’ it. I love crafting.

You can find me also over on Islamic Homeschool Diary documenting our homeschool life, also at Crafty Sew & Sew offering some craft tutorials, and finally my shop Sew Q which tries to drum up money for my craft budget and days out with my boys.

Please do remember that what you see on this blog is not all of my life. For me, my blog is a place of daily peace, a place of refuge where I can share the joy and creative aspect of living which helps me through the drudge and tough times; it is a reminder of family joys, and a celebration of creativity. I hope that you can find something for yourself here too - perhaps inspiration, perhaps recognition of yourself, perhaps knowing that through the hard toil of life we share certain goals, and can come together on mutual ground as people seeking joy and beauty.
