“It. was. on. SALE” (accompanied by ‘I’m talking to am imbecile’ look)
[He stares, worriedly, into the middle distance afraid to utter 'it would have been cheaper still had you left it there...']

And although his patience with my latest must haves is admirable, it is also slightly hollow since my DH actually lives perpetually in 1965 when a bus ride was 23p and slap up meal cost £2.36 and a ball of (expensive!) wool was £1. Yes. He actually thinks wool costs £1. I know; cute, isn’t it. Bless.

I don’t like to break the bad news to him since his ignorance works to my advantage.

Had he actually any idea what real commercial life is like right now he would be growing his own vegetables and severing the cord from the eBay-machine (also known as ‘computer’ in common parlance?) and prohibiting me from venturing into town with a wallet.
But for once I can tell him, guilt-free that he is right. Today I bought something for £1. It. was. on. sale… and I think I did rather well to leave John Lewis with only three balls of Debbie Bliss cotton rather than the six rather large baskets full that were on offer…. in fact, by buying only three balls rather than thirty I actually saved money, right? And with the saving I made surely I deserve a treat for being such an excellent housekeeper, no? Maybe a new book, some new shoes, fabric, or I know - yarn. Yes you are right, people. With all the savings I made I could afford some more yarn.

You know, you all make a lot of sense. I should speak to you guys more often…
I’m dreaming of winter hats for the babes in these shades. Planning ahead? Me?

*worriedly* Q, I’m not being funny or owt, but you need to get back in the car and go back and buy baskets full of the yarn.
If you don’t do that, the yarn you left there will haunt you to the end of your days. Seriously, you have to phone the shop now, phone them ahead and tell them you are coming in now.
Shall I phone them?
You just cannot leave all that yarn there at one pound a roll.
Never mind DH, if he is still in 1964 he’ll be alright, everything was simpler then and there was nothing to worry about - but today, well, we can’t just leave good yarn on sale..that is a luxury we cannot afford.
*sweating*
Meine Gott! Sie haben Recht! What was I *thinking*. Going back tomorrow to case the warehouse…
Oh wow! I need to convince my dh to pop over (no oceans between us, just the Northsea) and buy up those other baskets. I will save so much, we can easily pay those tickets. Um… no, I don’t think he will go for it…
Anyway, great find, love those colors!
Salams,
Me likey the embroidery - masha-Allah.
Is it yours?
Unfortunately no. But I love it too. A very good thrift find masha’allah!
You have to love Debbie Bliss though, its a dream to knit with =)
Isn’t it though! It’s like silk cascading off the needles. Lovely lovely.
Salams Q,
Maybe you could crochet your DH a kufi?
